A new season kicks off at Cougars this August 18th! We have 3 12 week terms this season with an extended summer term option as per usual. This year we kept training level 1-4 up until July 27th with great results so summer training really is worth it!
We are really looking forward to an exciting season for the club with so much to look forward to to. Only 2 weeks into term we will have performed to the biggest audience we have ever been in front of - 65000 people at Croke Park, where we will be performing at the Croke Park Classic American Football match between the University of Central Florida and Penn State University!
This is an unbelievable opportunity not only for Cougars but for Cheerleading in Ireland overall. We get to introduce Irish Cheer to the public! Excited is not the word! The event takes place on August 30th in Croke Park. Thank you so much to parents for allowing your athletes to take part and all the extra training that went with it. We are so grateful!
As soon as that's over, it's down to business with training for 21CC a priority for the club. Last year, our level 3 team went home as grand champs and we placed well with all other teams. It's a year since then and our level 3 team have moved to level 4, our level 2 team have moved to level 3 and we now have 2 new level 2 teams, and 4 level 1 teams! It's been a busy year!
In April this year, Coaches Hilton and Jamie traveled to Worlds in Florida with Team Ireland Coed Elite which was made up of 16 athletes from all over Ireland - Cougars was represented by Anna Clarke, Jenny Cunningham, Ciosa Marchant, Romina Gonzales, Louise Carey, Alisha Nicholson, Molly McNamara and Paul Curley. The team had a whirlwind year of training but pulled it off at Worlds! We couldn't be prouder of the whole team and the way our athletes represented Cougars in trying circumstances shows us we must be doing something right!
In May, Hilton and Jamie were elected into positions in the Irish Cheer Sport Association. Hilton is this year's Chairperson and Jamie will act as treasurer for the season. They are looking forward to helping to spread the sport of Cheer over the next year.
In June, Jamie and Paul finished their USASF Credentialing and we now have 3 level 5 qualified coaches at the club.
Jamie and Paul have been busy, as they also certified as Rebound Therapists this year and have started their fantastic work with children and youths with autism, which we hope will be of great benefit to the local community.
We will be welcoming Becky to the team as the new Head Coach of our Trampoline Program. Becky will be implementing lots of new and fun ideas for the
This season will be one to remember with lots in the pipeline and lots of opportunities for our sport to grow.
